I am a retired educator with 35 years of experience, and the time and luxury now to pursue what has always been my main passion: writing. I am ‘Joy’ to those close to me and ‘Taliba’ to everyone else. Finally realizing my lifelong dream of writing has brought a deep, abiding joy to my life.
My Story
A retired educator, teacher and administrator with 35 years in the education system. My focus is now on writing fiction, on pursuing her passion for story-telling. I live in the Caribbean, on the island of Trinidad.
Known as "Joy" to those close to me, I bring the essence of joy and deep emotional understanding to my writing. My debut novel, TILT, reflects my wisdom and insight into the human experience, particularly the complexities of family and relationships.

In August 2024, I self-published ‘Tilt-the Novel’, an intriguing debut narrative, set in Trinidad. TILT is a poignant tale that delves into the real-life challenges of marriage and family, beyond the fairy-tale ideal. It appeals to readers who are navigating their own relationships, as well as those interested in exploring the deeper truths about love, loss, and commitment.
One of my short stories, ‘Better’ was long-listed for the Brooklyn Caribbean Literary Festival Contest 2024. ‘Better’ explores the realities of poverty and loss, as well as the innate dignity of human life.

My hobbies hobbies and interests include reading a wide variety of literature, viewing theatrical productions, following international trends in education and researching the reasons behind human behaviour.
